Ampere: Renault subsidiary to become European market leader for e-cars

With the creation of Ampere, the first European pure player in electric vehicles and software, the Renault Group is driving forward the third stage of its Renaulution strategic plan. The aim of the company, which was founded on November 1, 2023, is to become the European market leader for electric cars. This is to be achieved, for example, by introducing affordable e-models with state-of-the-art software technology for a broad customer base. Ampere builds on the Renault Group’s 15 years of experience in the field of electric mobility.

The new Renault Group entity will be able to draw on a unique range of skills and a solid industrial and technological ecosystem covering the entire value chain for its industrial and technological project. The company operates a total of eleven sites in France, including four industrial centers: the ElectriCity production network, which includes the three sites in Douai, Maubeuge and Ruitz, and the plant in Cléon.

“We are creating a new business model that specializes entirely in electric vehicles and software: What better way to illustrate our revolution and the commitment of our teams? Develop a sustainable corporate vision and ensure that it is reflected in every single process and product. Build on Renault Group’s strengths and scrutinize every step we take. Build a close-knit team while working for the collective. Leveraging our French roots and becoming number one in Europe. Reaffirm our commitment to our customers, our planet and the people who live on it. The path chosen by Ampere reflects Renault Group’s ambitions and I am very proud to take this major step forward,” says Luca de Meo, CEO of Ampere and Renault Group.

The management team, led by Ampere CEO Luca de Meo, is composed of members from the Renault Group, the automotive industry in general and international technology companies: Josep-Maria Recasens, Chief Operating Officer, Cléa Martinet, Vice President Sustainability, Vincent Piquet, Chief Financial Officer, Benedicte Lenguin, Legal Councel, Estelle Guillot-Tantay, Vice President Communications, Alexandra Malak, Vice President People & Workplace, Technology & Operations, Luciano Biondo, Vice President Industrial Operations, among others.
