“Cadillac est arrivée”, Cadillac is here, proclaims a huge advertising poster in Paris. There, near the Cadillac Opera, the General Motors subsidiary celebrated its (re)entry into the European market and presented the all-electric Cadillac Optiq in an elegant atmosphere. “Cadillac has always stood for luxury,” said John Roth, Vice President of Cadillac Global, at the unveiling. “By the end of the decade, we want to offer an all-electric portfolio. The OPTIQ will be an important enabler to attract luxury-oriented customers to Cadillac electric vehicles.” 4.82 meters long, built on the same platform as the larger Cadillac Lyriq, it will be offered for sale in ten regions worldwide, including the USA, Canada, Mexico, Central America, China and the Middle East. The first impression is athletic, the vertically aligned headlight units are striking. It will be launched on the market as standard with a dual-motor all-wheel drive system with around 300 hp. The exact technical data for the European market in terms of performance, acceleration and top speed have not yet been communicated. In the USA, the Cadillac Optiq will be available with an 85-kWh package. When fully charged, the OPTIQ offers a range estimated by Cadillac of 300 miles and with DC fast charging in the United States, up to 79 miles of range can be added in 10 minutes. Pricing in the United States starts at $54,000, including destination-based fees, but excluding taxes, registration fees, license fees and dealer fees. The final price will be determined by the dealer. Production of the OPTIQ will begin in late fall.
