Volker Schwarz, neuer CIO von GK Automotive
One of the world’s leading manufacturers of automotive drive systems, GKN Automotive, has appointed Volker Schwarz as its new Chief Information Officer (CIO). Schwarz will report directly to the CEO of GKN Automotive, Markus Bannert. In this role, he will be responsible for the development of the global IT strategy as a member of the management board. The appointment of Volker Schwarz reinforces the company’s commitment to investing in its global IT network.
Volker Schwarz has more than 20 years of experience as a CIO executive in global companies in the automotive, energy and defense industries. Previously, he was CIO at Rheinmetall AG, a leading international automotive and defense group. Here he was responsible for the development of the company’s first global IT strategy. To this end, he initiated a centrally managed IT group function and led an extensive IT insourcing program. Prior to this, Schwarz spent three years as CIO at the Diethelm Keller Group and 12 years at Baker Hughes, where he held a number of management positions in Germany and the USA.
