Being able to charge e-cars quickly and in a plannable manner is one of the most important prerequisites for driving further acceptance of electromobility. For a long time, however, the corresponding technical possibilities were lacking, especially in more rural areas. Driven by the motivation to change this, Mer opened the fastest charging station in all of southern Germany five years ago in Straubing in Lower Bavaria. Now, the nationwide electromobility provider is following suit once again, setting new standards with the installation of alpitronic’s HYC400 and continuing the good and cooperative partnership with the city of Straubing.
The high-power charging station is located in the parking lot on Donaugasse, in the immediate vicinity of the TUM campus and the Competence Center for Renewable Resources (KoNaRo). Whereas electric vehicles could previously be charged here with up to 150 kW, e-mobilists now benefit from a charging power of up to 400 kW, which significantly speeds up the entire charging process.
In addition to installing the latest Hypercharger model from alpitronic, Mer is also replacing much of the existing infrastructure on site and expanding the charging offer to seven parking spaces instead of the previous five. This gives citizens a total of five fast CCS charging points and two Type 2 normal charging points. As at all Mer charging stations, only 100 percent certified green electricity is used in Straubing. All that is needed for charging is the Mer ConnectME app or a common charging card from a roaming provider.
With the latest HYC400 hypercharger, alpitronic sets unprecedented standards in terms of efficiency with an efficiency of over 97 percent. The HYC400 halves heat loss and guarantees responsible and sustainable use of the valuable resource energy. In addition to Donaugasse, Straubingers charge green electricity from Mer at six other locations. Further charging options can be found at the Westpark on Geiselhöringer Straße, at the Straubing District Office on Leutnerstraße, at the Theresien Center on Oberer-Thor-Platz, at the Ostermaier car dealership on Chamer Straße, as well as on the Europaring and Antoniusberg.
