New COO: Skeleton Technologies recruits Tobias Hüppe from Northvolt

Skeleton Technologies, one of the world’s leading suppliers of high performance fast-charging batteries, has announced the appointment of former Northvolt Senior Director of Manufacturing Tobias Hüppe. With his extensive experience in the battery sector, he will be responsible for the growth of Skeleton’s manufacturing operations as the new Chief Operations Officer (COO).

Tobias Hüppe joins Skeleton Technologies with many years of experience in scaling battery production and building gigafactories, most notably as a core team member and production manager at Northvolt. Prior to that, Hüppe held key positions in the automotive industry at Faurecia, Webasto and Edscha. He started as a lean manufacturing coordinator and progressed through various positions, including production and logistics manager, culminating in the position of plant manager.

Skeleton’s current COO, Dr. Linus Froböse, will assume the role of Chief Technology Officer (CTO) to drive technology and product development, leveraging his extensive experience in research and development. He will also continue to be responsible for expanding the production of Curved Graphene, Skeleton’s patented carbon material that enables Skeleton products to achieve unprecedented levels of performance without relying on toxic metals.

Skeleton is currently building a new factory in collaboration with Siemens near Leipzig, Germany, to manufacture its supercapacitor product line. The world’s largest factory for supercapacitors will increase the company’s production capacity by a factor of 40. Automated and digitalized mass production is scheduled to start by the end of 2024. The company is also developing its new SuperBattery technology, which is set to go into mass production in the future.
