Spin8 and Hubject join Forces for seamless EV charging in Italy

Hubject GmbH and Italian mobility company Spin8 announced their cooperation at a showcase event in Milan yesterday.

The partners unveiled the first rapid charging station and officially put it into operation together. The installation of a further 75 rapid charging stations in Italy is planned. This partnership means that the Spin8 charging stations will become part of the intercharge network. In the future, EV drivers will be able to use the charging stations along the intercharge route all the way from the Nordic countries down to the Mediterranean, regardless of provider or country.

Spin8 is thereby making an important contribution to climate-friendly mobility and is simultaneously laying the foundation for a nationwide charging infrastructure in Italy. Through the cooperation with Hubject and the connection to the intercharge charging network, the charging stations will be easy to use and provider-independent for customers of all intercharge-enabled emobility service providers. With their activities both companies are committed to an open and customer-friendly market model. By connecting to the Hubject platform it will be possible for EV drivers to pay directly by credit card or PayPal at Spin8 charging stations.

“The intercharge network creates powerful synergies among its partners. Spin8 is one of the upcoming Italian emobility players and will enrich our partner network from now on. Another important step towards a customer-friendly emobility in all over Europe.” says Thomas Daiber, CEO of Hubject.

Together with the Deputy Mayor for Mobility of the City of Milan, Pierfrancesco Maran, the first eRoaming charging transaction via intercharge was completed yesterday. “We very much welcome this new innovative and technological service”, says Pierfrancesco Maran. “The future of cities goes to ‘zero emissions’ and with this project Milan has gained high public environmental sensibility.” Karin Fischer, CEO of Spin8 added: “The EV growth in Italy has lagged behind for a set of reasons and from now on Milan with Spin8 will drive the change, ramping it up. Electric mobility is fully part of the modern urban lifestyle and for Milan, as the recent EXPO city on sustainability, it is a must have.”

In addition to operating charging stations, Spin8 also offers a wide range of services in the electric vehicle charging infrastructure: from turnkey charging station management systems through to the charging app. With access to the Hubject platform, Spin8 customers will be able to charge their vehicles outside of Italy at all intercharge-enabled stations throughout Europe using the Spin8 app. In addition to the largest Italian charging station operator Enel Distribuzione, Hubject welcomes Spin8 as another important partner in Italy.
