The institute expects that the vehicle will be used mainly for the physically handicapped and the elderly. Lee Chung-gu, head of the intelligent vehicle platform center within the institute, said, “Comparing to what’s being undertaken in developed countries like Japan, the United States, and Germany, we are one step behind in this effort. In the near future we will see a lot of new innovations in the area of driverless cars for those too feeble to drive on their own.”

Park Tae-hyun, president of the Advanced Institute of Convergence Technology, said, “The future of the automobile industry will be led by electric vehicles and driverless cars. Our aim in this effort is to reduce traffic accidents and help the handicapped live normal life with mobility.”
