New edition of an iconic sports car: The Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale returns

August 2023 Alfa Romeo unveils the new edition of a legendary sports car: the new Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale pays homage to the 1960s coupé of the same name. Produced in just 33 highly individualized units, the two-seater underscores the Italian brand’s unique expertise in style and driving experience. Hand-built, the new Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale bridges the gap between the brand’s history and its future.

To make a dream come true, a large portion of courage and a pinch of craziness are often indispensable. It was on this basis that Alfa Romeo designed the 33 Stradale model in 1967, a road-legal two-seater with the technology of the Tipo 33 racing car. The ultra-flat body with gullwing doors, made of aluminum, and the high-revving eight-cylinder engine combined to create a super sports car that, with its iconic design, is today considered one of the most beautiful coupés of all time.

Now, with the same boldness and vision, the design and engineering team of the traditional Italian brand has developed the new Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale. Once again a two-seater coupe, it embodies the perfect blend of style and technology. The aim is to offer the unique driving experience and incomparable charm of an iconic automobile to a small group of enthusiasts who have supported the project from the very beginning. To make it happen, Alfa Romeo has created a new division called Bottega. The team’s strategy includes first collecting the ideas and wishes of potential buyers, and then realizing as many of them as possible in an exclusive automobile. The Bottega department thus operates according to principles similar to those of the famous Italian carrozzerias of the 1960s.

Jean-Philippe Imparato, CEO of the Alfa Romeo brand, puts it in a nutshell: “With the new Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale, we are presenting an automobile that does justice to the great history of our brand and makes the large Alfa Romeo fan community proud. Such a result could only be achieved thanks to the expertise and passion of the development team. The team could be sure of the full support of the management, which has the clear ambition to shape the future of Alfa Romeo with full respect for its unique history. The new Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale is the brand’s first 100 percent bespoke model since 1969 – and I promise it won’t be the last.”
