Solar mobility OEM Sono Motors, a subsidiary of “Sono Group N.V.”, announced that it has reached 20,000 private customer reservations with an average down payment of around 2,000 euros. With a projected net selling price of €25,126, the Sion has the potential to become the world’s first affordable Solar Electric Vehicle (SEV) for the masses.
Production is scheduled to start in the second half of 2023 with contract manufacturer Valmet Automotive. The Finland-based partner has extensive expertise in manufacturing for high-tech OEMs. After a ramp-up phase, the partners aim to produce around 257,000 Sion within seven years. www.sonomotors.com
