Vector: Highly available embedded software for automated driving

Vector offers embedded software for control devices that meets the highest security requirements in accordance with ISO 26262 and goes far beyond current market standards. It ensures reliable operation and is therefore particularly suitable for autonomous driving and X-by-Wire systems. The new software is available for Vector’s embedded software product MICROSAR Classic.

Vector’s new highly available embedded software enables the development of security-relevant systems that are able to detect errors and also ensure the reliable execution of a defined service. Such software is the basis for replacing the driver as the ever-present fallback level. “Our basic software meets the most demanding requirements of fully self-driving vehicles, X-by-Wire applications and other mission-critical applications outside the automotive industry. We offer our customers an already available solution for the reliable operation of increasingly complex systems, especially in the software-defined vehicle.” says Dr. Matthias Traub, Head of Embedded Software and Systems at Vector.

In contrast to existing solutions that can only detect errors, MICROSAR High Availability in conjunction with state-of-the-art software development processes and a unique security architecture forms the basis for application software that reliably fulfills its defined tasks. Compared to previous solutions, MICROSAR High Availability ensures a deterministic worst case execution time (WCET), which is essential for demanding autonomous driving applications.

MICROSAR High Availability is an important component in Vector’s comprehensive SDV portfolio. In addition to the security-certified embedded software products, system developers can also take advantage of coaching and advice when implementing their security architecture. Combined with Vector’s leading basic software portfolio, MICROSAR High Availability offers a complete solution for all requirements – from sensor/actuator control devices to runtime software for high-performance computers (HPC) that form the heart of autonomous vehicles.
