With glamor and glory: Winners of the eMove360° Award 2019 announced in a glamorous ambience

In the glamorous ambience of the Gloria Palast in the heart of Munich, the winners of the third edition of the eMove360° Award for Electric Mobility & Autonomous Driving were announced on Monday night. The awards were presented in the categories Mobility Concepts & Software, Charging & Energy, Battery & Powertrain, Automated Driving & Electronics as well as Light Electric Vehicle and Electric Passenger Car.

A special reason to celebrate on this evening that saw appearances of actor and documentary filmmaker Hannes Jaenicke, actress and singer Nadeshda Brennicke and TV presenter Nina Eichinger as ambassadors for the New Mobility, had especially the award-winning companies: Future Mobility Solutions from Gaimersheim near Ingolstadt , Webasto from Stockdorf near Munich, the engineering service provider EDAG from Fulda, the US software company Aurora Labs, the Berlin-based e-Mobility start-up unu Motors with its new e-scooter and Jaguar with its electric SUV I-PACE. Marco Job, a student of ETH Zurich, received the special award for student submissions on behalf of a large team of students from the prestigious Swiss university for a two-wheel-drive electric motorcycle.

“We are very pleased that the eMove360° Award for Electric Mobility & Autonomous Driving – in parallel with our trade fair – is growing continuously. Many of this year’s submissions, especially those from the rewarded companies, address the big issues raised by the transition from fossil to new mobility in a very practical and solution-oriented way. The great task of shaping the mobility of the future employs the best minds around the world and brings up, in addition to new technologies, intelligent and especially economically viable concepts that allow us to decarbonise mobility. We sincerely congratulate all winners and finalists”, said Robert Metzger, Managing Director of MunichExpo and organizer of the eMove360° Award.

Award patron Hubert Aiwanger, Bavarian State Minister for Economic Affairs, Regional Development and Energy, emphasizes: “I am very pleased that Munich is home to two central platforms for the mobility of tomorrow: the trade fair eMove360° Europe 2019 and the international eMove360° Award. Electric mobility is a key component of an intelligent and sustainable mobility – which is why I welcome the fact that companies from Bavaria, but also from Germany and around the world are dealing with this important issue and are developing not only new technologies but also viable business models. With our “Zukunftsforum Automobil” we support the transformation process of companies in the Bavarian automotive and supplier industry. We promote research and development of new products and technologies and pilot projects on mobility solutions. As a result, Bavaria should remain the technology leader in the new mobility world.”

From Gaimersheim to Great Britain – small and large companies awarded for innovative solutions

As in the previous year, several winners were named in the Electric Vehicle category: Jaguar received the coveted trophy for its electric SUV I-PACE as well as unu Motors from Berlin for its second-generation, sharing-capable e-scooter. One of the technical highlights is the scalable battery concept from EDAG, which gives established automobile companies as well as start ups maximum freedom in the vehicle design. Webasto convinced the expert jury with a charging solution that provides answers to many of the practical issues regarding EV-charging in private and semi-public spaces. Self healing software like the awarded one by Aurora Labs including secure over the air updates is an important topic that will gain in importance in the future through highly automated and autonomous driving.

An innovative simulation and virtualization tool for the municipal urban and transport planning by the Bavarian company Future Mobility Solutions was rewarded in the category Mobility Concepts & Services. The winner of the Student award, a development team from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology ETH, provided another highlight with their two-wheel-driven electric motocycle.
