Technotrans has been awarded a large order by a leading German technology group for the cooling of fast-charging cables. With a total volume in the single-digit million range, the thermal management specialist will supply more than 1,000 customer-specific e.cool charging cable coolers within a year. These will be used in fast charging parks in the USA and Europe. The advantage: The efficient cooling system enables High Power Charging (HPC) without efficiency losses over a long period of time.
Due to the expansion of electromobility, the global demand for efficient fast charging stations is growing rapidly. Particularly along trunk roads, a continuous infrastructure without long waiting times is one of the decisive factors for the success of e-vehicles. The solution: HPC in charging parks at relevant traffic hubs. To ensure the efficient operation of fast charging stations, technotrans cooling technology for charging cables and plugs is being used as part of a major order. Most of the charging cable coolers will be installed in the USA, but they will also be used in Europe.
Convincing technology also for future applications
Technotrans designed the charging cable cooler type e.cool individually with regard to the requirements of the charging cable manufacturer and fast charging park operator. Thanks to its compact design, e.cool can be easily integrated into the charging columns and makes a narrow design of the cooling cables possible. For technotrans, the follow-up order is yet more proof of its expertise in the field of electromobility, especially since the thermal management expert has already been working with the renowned technology group for several years. Michael Finger, Spokesman of the Board of Management of technotrans SE, emphasizes technotrans’ experience in this area: “We have already been a leader in the field of high-power charging for many years and can fully exploit our expertise and experience.” Today, the company offers solutions for all common cooling fluids in fast charging stations.
technotrans is thus making an important contribution to the expansion of electromobility, because only efficient cooling technology makes HPC possible: “Only when we realize short charging times similar to the refueling of internal combustion engines can the consistent switch to electrified vehicles succeed. Electromobility as a whole will thus become significantly more attractive.” With its cooling solutions, the thermal management specialist optimizes process reliability in high-power charging and reduces the CO2 footprint in transportation.
Technotrans is continuously expanding the e-mobility segment in the Energy Management focus market as part of the group’s Future Ready 2025 strategy. Recently, the company presented a compact and reliable thermal management solution for megawatt charging systems (MCS) for the first time at the Electric Vehicle Trend trade fair in South Korea. Compared to High Power Charging, MCS has many times the charging capacity. “Charging times are significantly reduced and the segment is literally picking up speed,” says Michael Finger. “Our many years of experience in fast charging technology mean we are well equipped to meet the demands of the future.” www.technotrans.de
