Smart solution for municipalities and nurseries: HopOn electric vehicle with bulk goods extension

The HopOn powered by CARIT is the latest development from the Münster-based company CARIT Automotive GmbH & Co. KG from Münster. It is not a cargo bike, but a lightweight electric vehicle with the potential to revolutionize last-mile delivery and make work in gardening, landscaping and grounds maintenance considerably easier. The four-wheeled, all-electric vehicle, which is officially approved for road traffic, can be used to transport loads such as leaves, garden waste or street dirt weighing up to 250 kilograms and with a volume of 750 liters comfortably and emission-free, even through the narrowest alleyways in the city centre, through the garden gate or along narrow cemetery paths.

As the electric vehicle is only 84 centimetres wide, it fits through any door. In contrast to cargo bikes, the HopOn is characterized by the use of automotive components, high stability and resilience as well as low maintenance costs. The modular design of the HopOn loading area allows the use of interchangeable containers – including those from other suppliers – and the electric innovation achieves a top speed of either 20 or 30 kilometers per hour. The range with one battery charge is up to 50 kilometers and can be doubled with an additional battery. Thanks to the user-friendly operation of the HopOn and Tipper, both the journey to the construction site and the work itself are quick and easy. On March 15, CARIT will present the tipping solution “The Tipper” in the Dutch city of The Hague, where an entire city district will be closed to combustion vehicles as part of a series of tests.

The sustainable HopOn concept is also well received in politics and business. The vehicle has received special funding from the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Protection and has been recognized as an example of best practice by the Central Innovation Programme for SMEs (ZIM).
